When I watch videos, I’m reading too. I’m not wasting my time. It’s just visual reading rather than textual reading. Although in visual reading it’s hard to find profound beauty though the composition of language. The images themselves are “beautifully” crafted and framed.
In radios, we hear voices and sounds but most importantly messages. We use less of our sight. We even don’t need to open our eyes. But will that be considered a waste of our power? Or do we dive deeper into the message being presented? We hear beautiful voices from the radio, see beautiful images from TV and our other screens. Pages of textbooks that contains knowledge and information are tangible, touchable through our other senses. We can smell them, feel them, and we know it’s there in the space. We don’t get to feel it from our computers because the data resides as codes and in languages that we can’t comprehend. Digital. Can we make digital tangible?
